WHAT'S NEW WITH PURVA

Summer 2011

Purva is thrilled to be working at Lincoln Center this summer as part of the Acting Company in the 2011 Lincoln Center Theater Director's Lab.  She will be collaborating with a host of over seventy theater directors from all over the world.

Purva is producing another film! Purva's company, Disha, is collaborating with Longstocking Productions  to produce a short film starring Purva's grandmother, Laj Bedi.  It's the true story of Laj Bedi, an 87 year-old former Bollywood star and how a mystical event changes her outlook on life. It is written and directed by Purva's husband, David Andrew Stoler. Come join us for the party July 18 at Persephone !

Spring 2011

Purva is thrilled to be collaborating with TEA Project on the new play Homefront and will be performing in a workshop performance on June 6th!

Purva is on the boards again in Shakespeare's The Tempest at HERE directed by David Herskovits of Target Margin Theater, where she is an Associated Artist Click here for more information

Fall 2010

With The Play Company, Purva workshopped Rachel Wilson-Broyles' new translation of the play "Invasion" by Jonas Hassan Khemiri directed by Erica Schmidt. Purva had a blast working onstage with Maulik Pancholy, Piter Marek & Daoud Heidami.

In her personal life, Purva celebrated her marriage to writer, David Andrew Stoler.Read all about it the New York Times

Summer 2010

Purva starred in a feature film shot in Arizona. More details soon!

Winter 2009/2010

Purva attended the world premiere of her short film Kosu at the Pravasi International Film Festival in Delhi, India. Kosu received honorable mentions and was extremely well-received at it's first festival!

Purva recorded the book "One Amazing Thing" by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni which is now available at libraries nationwide.

Purva workshopped two new plays with Pan Asian Rep: News to A Muse by RIchard Chang directed by Linda Burson and Rangoon by Mayank Keshaviah directed by Kaipo Schwab.

Summer 2009

Purva starred in the drama "Nulambu" shot on location in the South of India! Purva spoke in Tamil for the role! She was directed by Saro Varjabedian and the script was by Rob Richert.

Purva workshopped several new plays this summer including "Ski Dubai" with Ars Nova written by Laura Jacqmin and directed by Laura Savia.

Purva was invited to be an Associate Artist of Target Margin Theater. Purva is thrilled to be a part of the company she has worked with and admired for so many years! Target Marhgin Theater Website

Purva appeared onstage in the world premiere of THERE OR HERE by Jennifer Maisel - September 6-28


THERE OR HERE is a dark comedy about a mixed race couple who outsource their baby-making surrogacy to a woman in India.
